A glabrous plant 30-40 cm or more with ± fusiform vertical roots. Lower leaves with long petioles. Leaves 25-75 mm long, 2-3-pinnate, leaflets 2-6 x 1-3 mm, ovate or obovate, subsessile, base tru ncate or rounded, trilobate or dentate at apex, lobes acute or obtuse. Upper surface darker in colour. Flowers in leafy racemes, small and greenish. Bracts few at base, erect to ± deflexed. Sepals 1-3 x 0.5-1 mm, ovate. Stamens 5-8, filaments 2-3 mm long, filiform. Anthers linear, shorter than filaments Carpels 3-5, sessile, at maturity 2-3 x 1 mm, fusiform, 6-ribbed, ribs glabrous. Style short, straight, persistent.

Lectotype: Ladakh, Leh, 10-14000', T. Thomson s.n. (K).

Chitral: A-7 Turikho river, 10,000', Stainton 2493 (RAW): Baltistan: B-9 Biafo glacier, 3780 m, H. Hartmann 571 (RAW).

Distribution: W. Pakistan, Kashmir, Ladak, W. Tibet east to Sikkim.

Uncommon and found in dry gravelly places from 3000-4400 m.
