Plants 3-150 cm tall. Tap root thick. Stem base fibrous. Leaves 2-pinnate; pinnae lanceolate to oval; segments serrate to pinnatifid. Umbels lateral and terminal. Involucre of 5-8 entire or divided bracts, margins white. Rays 10-30, 3-8 cm long, scabrous. Involucel of 6-8 white margined lanceolate bractlets, entire or trifid at the apex. Calyx teeth obsolete. Petals white. Fruit broadly ovate, 4-5 mm long, papillate; fruit wall lax; ridges winged, transversely folded; furrows 1-vittate; commissure 2-vittate.
Type: Kashmir, Falconer 3150 (K).
Distribution: Afghanistan, India, W. Pakistan.
It is a common plant in the Himalayas at high altitudes growing among rocks.
