Eriocycla staintonii Riedl & Kuber in Osterr. Akad. Wiss. 12: 365. 1964.
Plants hoary white, up to 20 cm tall. Root thick, long tapering, c. 15 cm long, 1 cm thick at the base. Leaves mostly basal, 2-5 cm long, pinnate; pinnae c. 6 mm long, 3 mm broad, tomentose, pinnatifid; terminal pinna trisect. Umbels terminal and lateral. Involucre of 2-3 linear pubescent bracts. Rays 2-5, unequal, 5-15 mm long, pubescent. Involucel of 5 linear pubescent bractlets. Flowers pedicels as long as the flowers. Calyx teeth obsolete. Ovary densely white pubescent; styles 1 mm long, deflexed; stylopodium and the styles purple. Fruit oblong, 3 mm long, 1 mm broad; ridges prominent; furrows 1-vittate; vittae large. Inner seed face plane.
Type: A-7 Chitral, Shaghot, Lutko Vy., 6000 ft., Stainton 3254 (Holotype W; Isotypes, BM, RAW).
Distribution: Chitral in W. Pakistan.
This species has been collected from the type locality only.
