Lisaea grandiflora Boiss.Turgenia heterocarpa DC.
Plants c. 50 cm tall. Stem pubescent with short and long hairs; long hairs glochidiate. Leaves pinnate, pubescent; segments lanceolate, pinnatifid to pin¬natipartite; leaf bases sheathing. Involucre of 5 puberulous, white, membran¬ous, oval bracts. Rays 8-12, pubescent, longer hairs glochidiate. Involucel of 5-6 puberulous, white, lanceolate, membranous bractlets. Calyx teeth 5, prominent. Petals creamy white, outer larger, c. 5 mm long, emarginate. Fruit 5-6 mm long, puberulous, spiny and tuberculate; styles 4 mm long; dorsal and intermediate ridges crested with 2-3 spines on each; furrows with tubercles; vittae obscure.
Type: Described from Iran.
Distribution: Middle East to Central Asia, Iran and W. Pakistan.
The discovery of this species from Kashmir is a remarkable find. The species normally grows in the dry regions in the Middle East.
