Erect annual, branches sparsely pubescent. Leaflets 1.5-3.5 cm long, broadly elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, mucronate, rarely retuse; stipules oblong, the free portions lanceolate, ciliate. Inflorescence ovoid or oblong-conical head, in fruit 1-1.5 cm broad; often a few bracts forming a minute involucre, peduncle up to 3.0 cm. Calyx pubescent, teeth unequal, spinescent. Corolla cream coloured. Vexillum 8-13 mm long.
Type: Described from Egypt, Herb.Linn.930/49 (LINN).
Distribution: Turkey, Iraq, Syria; Lebanon; Palestine; Egypt; Caucasus; widely cultivated.
Cultivated as a fodder crop in Sind, Baluchistan, Punjab etc.
