Shrubs or under-trees, rarely lianas, usually with little latex and whorled branches. Leaves in whorls of 3-4, rarely opposite, eglandular along the midrib, glandular in the axils with slender nerves, sessile to petiolate with small and deciduous stipules. Inflorescence terminal or of lateral dischasial cymes. Calyx-lobes 5, equal, ovate or lanceolate, eglandular. Corolla hypocrateriform, salverform or infundibuliform, tube cylindrical, somewhat inflated above the middle with usually hairy throat. Stamens included. Disc annular, cup-shaped. Carples free to syncarpous with 2-4 ovules, style 1, stigma cylindric. Fruit drupacous. Seed one, ovate.
A large pantropical genus with about 110 species, represented in Pakistan by 1 species only.
