Heracleum thomsonii C.B. Clarke
Plants 15-50 cm tall. Root thick elongated. Stems several from the base, almost naked, pubescent to glabrascent. Leaves mostly basal, pinnate to bipinnate; pinnae linear to oval, sessile or shortly petioled, pinnatifid to pinnatisect, pubescent. Involucre of 3-5 linear pubescent bracts. Rays 3-12, pubescent. Involucel of 5-6 pubescent bractlets. Flowers white to yellowish-white. Outer petals larger, deeply lobed. Styles 1.5-2 mm long. Fruit dorsally compressed, oblong, pubescent; wings narrow; vittae extending to the base of the fruit.
Type: Ladak, Thomson, 29th Sept. 1847 (K).
Distribution: Himalayas in India and W. Pakistan.
A common plant in the inner Himalayan ranges.
